No relationship is perfect, just as no one is perfect. The word of God in Romans 3:23 puts it clearly, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” Hence humans are fallen beings, even after we are survived we are still work in progress and our faith is being perfected. Thus it’s safe to assume that our relationships are not perfect and that’s okay.

What makes an imperfect relationship different from an abusive one is the cycle of abuse.

The cycle of abuse refers to the continuous and repetition of harmful acts of violence. Think of it as a cycle of a bicycle that keeps on going when it’s peddled. It is a pattern that will happen many times in a relationship.

The image is a summary of the traits of an abusive relationship. If this cycle is very familiar to you and hits a little too close to home then you need to evaluate your relationship and seek the help of a counselor.
